Omega-3 fatty acids are essential to us, as our bodies do not manufacture them. It is therefore vital that we receive omega-3 fatty acids in foods or food supplements. Seafood in general contains high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, people with a low fish diet can therefore compensate by taking fish oil supplements.

Extensive research has been conducted worldwide on the health-promoting benefits of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA on various forms of disease, such as coronary heart disease, mental disorders, rheumatism and arthritis.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the USA has concluded that consumption of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil reduces the risk of repeated coronary heart disease. Furthermore the FDA suggests that healthy individuals who consume omega-3 fatty acids from marine oils are less likely to suffer from coronary heart disease.

Omega-3 FORTE does not contain vitamins A or D and can therefore be safely taken with cod liver oil supplements containing those vitamins.
